Okay, it was a bit of a rough start.
And even though all the elements were there - geeky billionaire, has-been comedian, long form and super-long form formats, hundreds of millions of dollars, alledgedly cutting edge agency - somehow they just couldn't pull it off.
I guess it was just a case of too much talent, too much money, and too much creative vision.
After all that, you're probably guessing that the next spot for Microsoft would be killer.
A home run.
Magic.
Lion-worthy.
But would you have guessed a bit of a let down?
Yep . . . pretty much. Have a look:
I guess after the Bill and Jerry Spots About Nothing flopped, it was time to go back to something safe.
The world was simply not ready for the comedy stylings of Microsoft. So they decided to go with something that would resonate with as many people as possible. But with a "We Are The World" kind of spin to it.
So their new message is "I'm a PC (just like billions of other people)."
While Mac people may be something special, evidently PC people are as common as dirt.
I think Apple already has a response to boring sameness and rigid conformity imposed by a mega-corporation. Just update the last part and they're done.
